The Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism prepares students to lead change in this unique, multifaceted, and exciting industry. Deeply held values of effective management and marketing of organizations across sectors, social and economic development, fostering healthy lifestyles, and environmental stewardship are fundamental to all aspects of the program. Core courses provide a strong foundation in theory and managerial principles, which are complemented by in depth knowledge of the RST industry delivered in concentration areas and elective coursework.

RST offers three concentration areas:

An internship experience provides the opportunity to further apply that knowledge in the field with the support of the RST faculty. Through rigorous cross-training across recreation, sport, and tourism, RST graduates are well-prepared for graduate studies in a variety of fields and rapid career advancement in the industry.
