More than 500 first-year and transfer students accepted admission to the College of Applied Health Sciences this semester. AHS welcomed its new students with an event on August 20 where they could learn about special programs, labs, and student organizations within the college.
(L-R): Anna Chang plans to become an occupational therapist after completing her degree in kinesiology; Olyvia Wilken is a pre-med student majoring in interdisciplinary health sciences; Sydney Gruenert also is majoring in i-health, with plans to become a physician assistant focused on women’s health; Talitha Akoto plans to become a public safety engineer after completing her degree in community health; Ariana Sanchez is pursuing a degree in kinesiology and a career as an athletic trainer.
(L-R): Brendan Cramer and Andrew Derwent are enrolled in the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism. They’re keeping their professional options open at this point, but they both clearly are sports fans.
(L-R): Georgia Diamond plans to become a physician assistant after completing a degree in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences; speech and hearing science major Isabel Spacht has her sights set on a career in speech-language pathology.

Jackson Beaupre, majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, has not yet decided upon his future career and is excited about the breadth of options a degree in I-Health will provide.
Kinesiology major Sam Carlson is interested in doing research in his future career.
Yair Diaz will go into coaching after completing his degree in recreation, sport and tourism.
Riley Joyce, also a student in the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism, plans to work for a professional sports team.
Claire Kakac will pursue a career in sports medicine after completing a degree in kinesiology.
Community health major Poorna Kumar plans to go into health administration.

Jasmyne Ruffin hasn’t decided which area of concentration within speech and hearing science she’ll choose—she’s interested in both audiology and speech-language pathology.

Collin Sexton plans to become an audiologist after completing his degree in speech and hearing science.

Greta Pearl will go into physical therapy after completing her degree in kinesiology; Renee Crawley and Bianca Namuyomba are majoring in interdisciplinary health sciences. Renee plans to become a physician assistant, while Bianca will pursue a career as a veterinary surgeon.
