Jesse Couture is a Teaching Assistant Professor who joined the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health in January 2023. Dr. Couture earned his PhD at the University of British Columbia, in Vancouver, Canada. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, Dr. Couture was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Ottawa. His research focuses on the relationships between digital technology and sport-based communities. He is particularly interested in the use of digital health technologies amongst recreational athletes and seeks to better understand the increasingly widespread use of self-tracking devices and online sport-based social platforms. His research has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
