What keeps you busy outside of your coursework?

Outside of my coursework, I enjoy singing/covering songs and reading various genres of literature. I also love to practice an active lifestyle by playing sports such as basketball, working out, and exploring the outdoors with friends and family. I work as one of the building supervisors at the Illini Union, and that keeps me busy as well.

What inspired you to pursue a MHA degree?

Initially, I was inclined to work on the clinical side of healthcare, but I realized my persona was better suited and more valuable from the lens of a healthcare administrator. An MHA degree would enable me to exemplify effective leadership skills while improving the realm of a hospital, an environment I still wanted to be a part of. I was also inspired by the vast opportunities the degree is able to offer; moreover, higher education in health administration gives me more professional experience to positively impact the healthcare field in a variety of ways. I love making new connections as well, and an MHA degree will help me expand my overall network.

Why did you choose Illinois for your MHA?

I studied my undergrad here at U of I, so my familiarity with campus life, all the resources available, and excellent faculty were characteristics I wanted to continue being involved with. Illinois MHA also provides great preparation for career development such as an internship, and other beneficial experiences throughout the program.

What advice do you have for current students OR prospective students?

My advice for current students or for those ready to enroll in the program is to really make an effort performing good routines that work for you. Not just academically, but even other important aspects in life. Reflect, explore, and continue to improve yourself. Understand that everything will work out in the end. Take advantage of the amazing resources around you and always stay motivated with your studies. Stay true to yourself, because finding clarity with your desires can go a very long way.
