Age is the greatest risk factor for nearly every chronic disease and morbidity. Dr. Konopka’s laboratory is interested in using interventions that modify the biological rate of aging to delay the onset or slow the progression of age-related conditions such as osteoarthritis, skeletal muscle loss, and cardiometabolic disease. By using a translational research approach, our lab identifies mechanisms in tissue culture and animal models and applies this information to human clinical trials.
