What kept you busy outside of your coursework?

I was on the University of Illinois Club Softball Team, a team ranking #1 in the nation (this is something I will always share when I get the chance 😊). I also spent time connecting with undergraduate students while being a lead instructor and TA for CHLH classes on campus. I was a bartender on campus to earn some extra money during the school year, and I made SO many fun memories. During graduate school, I got two dogs who I love more than I thought was possible!

What inspired you to pursue a MHA degree?

I want to touch the future. I want to be able to impact as many people as possible; not physically, but emotionally. Impacting someone can follow them throughout their life, and the impact can spread to many more people without even knowing. I have always believed that positively impacting others will impact the world. There is no better way to impact people than through healthcare. I personally saw how a healthcare organization can negatively affect an entire family; this was the beginning of channeling my passion to touch the future, into healthcare.

Why did you choose Illinois for your MHA?

I transferred to UIUC at the beginning of my junior year during undergrad. I instantly fell in love with the campus, staff, and the overall atmosphere at UIUC. Being a part of a community that is diverse, inclusive, and supportive is what made me continue my education at UIUC.

What advice do you have for current students OR prospective students?

In general, it is okay to feel lost and worried that you will not succeed, but UIUC will never let you fail. Being a part of the MHA program has made me a better person in more ways than one. Do not give up. Everyone believes in you and will help you thrive!
