Internships

Internships and Capstones

We encourage students to complete internships or other learning experiences. These hands-on components are vital to our programs. Each unit recommends and often requires students to participate in field placements. This applies to both undergraduate and graduate levels.

These requirements give students real-world experience, helping them transition from school to work. Internships let students apply what they’ve learned in school and bring fresh ideas to their organizations.

AHS students gain valuable experience through these opportunities. Bachelor’s programs in community health, interdisciplinary health sciences, speech and hearing sciences and recreation, sport and tourism need internships to graduate. Graduate public health, health administration and health technology graduate students must complete external placements. They also complete capstone projects with professional partners.
