Because of the current public health crisis, many health-related services deemed to be non-essential have been suspended. Unfortunately, this includes services offered by speech-language pathology and audiology clinics and practitioners. However, graduate students in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign must accrue practice hours this summer in order to graduate on time and meet certification and licensing requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

The state of Illinois has granted a temporary variance to allow our clinical faculty to supervise our speech-language pathology and audiology students remotely and to count telepractice hours toward their required clinical experience. This variance not only helps our students, but also enables the University of Illinois Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Clinic to meet the needs of individuals and families who find that the coronavirus pandemic has negatively impacted their ability to access services.

Contact us to set up an appointment. You will be helping to train the next generation of clinicians while getting the diagnostic and treatment help you need. It’s a win-win situation! For more information, contact the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Clinic at shsclinic@illinois.edu or call 217-333-2205.
