Julene Ensign

Julene Ensign earned all three degrees (B.S., M.S., & PhD) in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois. She has taught in higher education for over twenty years, but she also holds a K-12 physical education teaching license and is a certified personal trainer. At the college level, her primary teaching focus has been coursework focused on developing physical educators, but she has also taught a wide variety of other content spanning from anatomy and physiology to outdoor recreation and stress management. Her research work addresses the socialization and performance of physical educators as well as wellness trends among college students.

Outside of her adjunct teaching role at the University of Illinois, she is an associate professor and co-chair for the Department of Health & Exercise Science at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Growing up near the Wisconsin border, Julene is a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan/owner (with a whopping one share of stock!). Spending time with her family and dogs dominates her free time, and typically, she can be found outside hiking, golfing, or biking.
