Kshitij is a third-year doctoral student in the Department of Recreation, Sport, and Tourism (RST) at UIUC. He is majoring in RST and has completed a graduate minor in Queer Studies through the Gender and Women’s Studies department. He is also pursuing a graduate minor in Gender Relations in International Development offered by the Women & Gender in Global Perspectives Program. His research interests focus on Environmental Justice, LGBTQ+ issues in leisure and recreation, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in RST, and Queer Pedagogies. His work aims to foster inclusive and equitable environments within leisure and recreation, advocating for marginalized communities and promoting social justice. His teaching philosophy is rooted in equity, respect, and active participation, ensuring every student feels valued, heard, and empowered to engage critically with the course material. In his free time, he enjoys playing badminton, reading sci-fi, fantasy, and queer literature, and volunteering for the Urbana Park District.
