Shelly Johnson

Dr. Johnson is an accomplished healthcare executive with nursing, public health, and business degrees. She is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana in healthcare administration and community health programs. She previously taught undergraduate and graduate courses at Northern Illinois University in their Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program and has partnered with Wiley Publishing for curriculum development.

Her previous industry experience includes Interim President, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice President of Community Health at a large health system in Michigan and nursing, occupational health, primary care, community health, and leadership at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL.   Her research interest is the role of hospitals in improving community health. She has national experience partnering with organizations such as the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and is a board member of Committee to Protect Healthcare Education.
